I have my work cut out for me today. Baking and housework and clearing space. I took yesterday 'off', and Friday afternoon (after my osteopath...the treatment spaces-me-out and I am only capable of floating, afterwards)
When I say 'took the day off', it roughly translates to, 'I consciously chose to do less than usual', because, yesterday, there was some work business to do, and some food shopping and planning for next week.
Being an artist is a lifestyle, it's not a day job, it is 24/7
In reality, I never stop. I simply take time out on the Downs or the beach with a book and sketchpads and camera. I go slow and I meditate and practice gratitude for all of my blessings. I get into nature and it rejuvenates me and puts me in a place of total gratitude. Nature is so incredible, beautiful and real. Unspoiled beauty, that cannot be replicated or imitated.
Thursday afternoon, I was in the changing room, of my local charity shop - which I now consider to be my second home : )
I'm have a certain loyalty to the shop. I am more than happy to support them, with money and time. The Martlets nurses, who frequented my parents home during my mother's final months, where nothing less than outstanding. The care that they had provided was more thorough and generous than the district nurses, by a length. Martlets cancer care. The best.
I over-hear a lot of conversations - while I am trying on lovely clothes and checking myself out : ) The shop is now a virtual community centre.
I heard the manager, on the telephone, (whom I heart a lot) discussing the fact that she does not bake, and therefore would have no chance at bringing cakes for the volunteers day/party on Monday.
'I'll make some cakes', was my knee-jerk reaction...any excuse to bake : )
So I have volunteered my cakes for volunteers day...
I'm to make my trademark Lemon cake (of course) and it transpires that volunteer Charlie (whom I know as a customer from the Community Charity shop where I volunteered a couple of years) likes chocolate cake. This gives me the opportunity to make two cakes....and I will attend the party, because I am a virtual volunteer myself. : ) I'm a natural and spontaneous 'helper'.
