I am planning a visit to the Redleaf Gallery.
There are things that have not been out on display for a while. Nick likes to keep extra stock, outside of the current up to date work.
Sometimes he might have them there to bring out if a client shows a particular interest in my work. As I have exhibited both figurative and still life paintings with Redleaf, there are two 'genres' of my work there.
This one was a part of a figurative series that I started around 2009, when Alicia was about 12 and at senior school. This painting, of about 2011, was a portrait of us.
Close - but growing apart, already. Thats what 'teens' do. They start to venture out independently.
It is in the gallery storage.
Someone commented that this series was Frida Khalo-esque. Probably.
I really enjoyed this series. This was was re-worked quite a few times. It's very layered. At this time I began to use my initials, instead of my L. Wright signature.
I'm the skinny one with square shoulders, the pink one. Alicia is the curvy one. She is taller than me now. I like this painting.
There are two landscapes from this time. One of them I found on LinkedIn. I used a knife to paint it.
As the gallery is closing soon, I will have to go through and retrieve any paintings still in storage.
