Living in a fear based world, where all of the media, passwords, security, bad news (The News) paranoia reigns supreme.
Lock up everything culture.
I find that speaking off the cuff, making jibes and jests to random strangers is a helpful tool, to get you through.
i was in my doctors, at lunchtime, to repeat my prescription. There was a very large black guy, ahead of me. I've seen him about.
The receptionist asked, "And what is your wife's name?"(he had been sent on a repeat script by wifey, clearly) He paused. Long.
I started to laugh. "Don't know, forgotten. Um, where does she live? Don't know, what's her name? Forgotten". The idea tickled me, that it became a Monty python sketch (in my head)
He thought this was funny. Then, looked at me straight, after a double take. "You look great!"
"Thank you very much, you look pretty good yourself".
It's nice. I am usually the one complimenting everyone. Today, I had one. Genuine, authentic compliment. Must wear cream, J Lo hair, smile and tan more often.
