... who are we?
The Western (hemisphere) zodiac signs of the Autumn season are represented as Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius (if we are to include Ophiuchus, that would be four)
An astrological theory suggests that, as a trine (3), Libra represents 'past'.
Scorpio represents 'present' and Sagittarius represents 'future'.
Now, with this theory as a guideline, I can see how this figures.
The math? Libra is from the element of 'air' and it is also a 'Cardinal' sign (there are four cardinals) Scorpio is from the element of 'water' and it is also a 'fixed' sign (there are four fixed) and Sagittarius is from the element of 'fire' and is also a 'mutable' sign (there are four mutable)
The 'types', Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable, have four signs of each signs. It would make perfect mathematical sense that each season (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) will have three signs (three is divisible into 12) and according to the night skies and Seasonal changes.
Each of these Autumnal signs is, of course, associated with individual planetary energy. Libra = Venus (Love, Sex, Money, Beauty), Scorpio=Pluto, and Mars (Death, War, Re-birth, Transformations), Sagittarius=Jupiter (God, Higher Knowledge, Truth, Travel)
This is another reason to love astrology, it's very 'tidy' and it has geometry, astronomy, math, science and art and myth and legend. It's like an avocado. A 'complete food'. Astrology is a 'complete subject', or area of study.
It is also infinite in that the more you seek, the more you find.
Not only does the math and science make sense, the art, myth and legend (including symbology) shows a lot of sense.
Also, not forgetting, that it is a very ancient form of divination. It is very clever.
When you look into the planetary influences and their particular energies, you can see how it transmutes into the particular signs - by association.
With the inclusion of Ophiuchus, it throws the math off, but does involve a 13th constellation who is believed to have all of the elements, air, fire, water and earth and is associated with both Pluto and Jupiter, a transmuter between the underworld and G-d. It's season is not 28 lunar days, it has only seventeen to eighteen days.
In the recent Libra (past/cardinal) season, astrologers will argue that the energies could have involved retrospective reflection on love, ex-partners, beautiful experiences, good times, the beautiful and loving experiences that you remember with sentimentality, and peaceful times. The celebrations of Thanks Giving and Harvest Festival fall in the Libra Season and it celebrates abundance. It looks back on the achievements of the year that has brought abundance to the table.
In the current Scorpio (present, fixed) season, astrologers would argue that energies might involve endings, transformations and things being revealed about your current circumstances - anticipated endings to make way for new beginnings. Scorpio season celebrates Dia de Los Meurtos, Hallow'een, All Saints Day and Guy Fawkes. These celebrations relate to night time, death, rising spirits, dark hours, deceitful planning and all that is unseen, including delusions and illusions.
If we include 'Ophiuchus', (o-few-cus) astrologers would argue that it is the transitional sign between Scorpio and Sagittarius seasons. The link between the underworld and the universe/G-d. It is a short season of 17days and it could be a necessary transition because of the very opposite elements of Scorpio (Pluto/Mars) and Sagittarius (Jupiter) energies.
Sagittarius season (future, mutable) starts during the second half of November and astrologers would argue that this is a future looking season, looking towards Christmas and the New Year, looking towards celebrations and the festive season, and even looking to book travel for the forthcoming year. Most Christmas parties take place in Jupiter season. Jupiter is all about celebrations, parties, giving gifts, fun, get togethers and the end of the season which moves into a more sober Capricorn season.
Of course, the current placements of Saturn in Capricorn (which will not happen again for 30 plus years) it denotes the end of a cycle that no longer resonates. Strict Saturn with Jupiter in Sagittarius (the past 11 months until December) is shining the harsh (Saturn) truth (Jupiter) in your face on cycles ending that you should honour, accept and respect.
Capricorn (Saturn energy) is the first season of Winter, followed by Aquarius and Pisces. Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable. And on repeat with Spring: Aries, Taurus and Gemini. Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable.
Summer: Cancer, Leo and Virgo=Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable.
Last night I heard a fireworks display. The beginning of Scorpio season.
